Every dollar you give makes a real difference. Just this year, your gifts are allowing us to renovate an inpatient wing of the medical center, creating 20 private rooms and baths. We are building a state-of-the-art medical library on par with research institutions for our physicians and expanding our outreach to caring for the indigent in our community. Philanthropic support is increasing our endowment, allowing continued education for our beloved nurses. These are but a few of the many programs and services that you support.

Join Our Giving Society - Options for Annual Gifts of $1,000+

The Carpenter's Society recognizes donors who have contributed annual cumulative gifts of $1,000 or more in support of critical operating and capital needs. Make a Carpenter Society gift. These gifts are in support of critical operating and capital needs of the medical center. The giving levels with the carpenter society include:

St. Francis Society

The St. Francis Society honors St. Francis of Assisi, patron of our founders, the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia. Membership in this society is reserved for donors who contribute $1,000 to $2,499 in the current fiscal year.

Reverend George F. O'Dea, S.S.J. Society

Reverend George F. O'Dea, S.S.J. cared for patients and staff as Director of Pastoral Care at St. Joseph Medical Center for over 20 years. An annual donation of $2,500 to $4,999 will secure your membership in this society.

Sister Pierre Society

Sister M. Pierre, O.S.F., administrator at St. Joseph from 1956 to 1974, who provided critical leadership during the closure of St. Joseph Hospital on Caroline Street and its reopening on the present location in Towson. Membership in this society is reserved for donors who contribute $5,000 to $9,999 in the current fiscal year.

St. Joseph Society

The medical center's namesake, St. Joseph, is often referred to as "The Worker." He is the patron of working people, of craftsman and of the poor. Membership in this society is reserved for donors who contribute $10,000 to $24,999 in the current fiscal year.

St. Clare Society

Eldest daughter of a wealthy family in Assisi, Italy, Clare was inspired to a life of poverty and prayer through her companionship with Francis of Assisi. Membership in this society is reserved for donors who contribute $25,000 to $49,999 in the current fiscal year.

Sister Marie Cecilia Society

Established in honor of Sister Marie Cecilia, O.S.F., in recognition of her beloved leadership as President and CEO of St. Joseph Medical Center from 1975 to 1994. Membership in this society is reserved for donors who contribute $50,000 or more in the current fiscal year.

Members of our Tau Society have made known their intention to include contributions to the medical center in their estate plans. The Tau, the 19th letter of the Greek alphabet, has long been recognized as a symbol of genuine hope and response in trust to the faithfulness of God. St. Francis adopted the Tau’s cross symbol as his signature and used it to give his blessing. Tau Society members are demonstrating their trust in UM St. Joseph Medical Center’s ability to provide excellence in care for generations to come.

Support the Critical Needs of University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center

At any given time, there can become a critical need at the medical center that may have been unanticipated. Perhaps the uninsured patients served by St. Clare Medical Outreach require extra Insulin to treat their Diabetes or a cancer patient needs a costly drug not covered by insurance. Unrestricted gifts, meaning those that serve whatever UM St. Joseph Medical Center deems most necessary, help answer these types of “emergency” needs. Please consider making a gift today!
