Health & Prescription Drug Plan
UM SJMC offers three medical plan choices through CareFirst Administrators to meet your needs and those of your dependents. Prescription drug coverage is included with each medical plan.

Vision benefits are offered through EyeMed Vision Care.
Flexible Spending Account
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) are a way to convert taxable salary dollars into tax- free benefit dollars to be used for eligible health care of child care expenses.
Life Insurance
At no cost to you, UM SJMC provides benefit eligible employees regularly scheduled to work 40 or more hours every two weeks Basic Life Insurance and Basic Accidental Death and Dismemberment. Coverage is equal to one times your annual base salary.
Voluntary Life Insurance
Available at low group rates. Spouse and dependent children coverage available.
Retirement Plan
UM SJMC helps you save for retirement two ways, through a 401(a) retirement plan, to which UM SJMC makes regular contributions on behalf of eligible employees, and through a 403(b) retirement plan, that allows you to make voluntary pre-tax contributions.
Paid Time Off
Paid time off (PTO) is available to allow benefits eligible full and part time employees time away from work for holidays, rest, relaxation and leisure, as well as to cope with short term illness, care for dependents or fulfill other personal commitments. Employees begin to accrue PTO immediately.
Child Care

Education Assistance
UM SJMC provides tuition reimbursement for undergraduate and graduate studies that are related to an employee's current job or a hospital related job. UM SJMC reimburses up to $6,000 for undergraduate and up to $10,000 for graduate studies per calendar year.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and Work Life Services
This free and confidential program through Carebridge is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help you and your family members manage a variety of work- life issues.
Long-Term Disability Protection
This benefit provides 60% of income benefit to eligible employees through age 65 or recovery. Long Term Disability protection is fully funded by UM SJMC, with no contribution by the employee.
Short-Term Disability Protection
The Short Term Disability Protection plan covers benefit eligible employees regularly scheduled to work 40 or more hours per pay period. This protection is fully funded by UM St. Joseph Medical Center, with no contribution by the employee.
Credit Union
UM SJMC offers an in-house credit union operated by employees for employees. Convenient payroll deductions provided for participation in program.
