UM St. Joseph Medical Center Named Among Nation's Top 407 Hospitals by the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services
University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center was one of only 407 hospitals in the nation—and one of eight in the state of Maryland—to earn five out of five stars from Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services in its 2020 Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings report.
The Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) created the Five-Star Quality Rating System to help consumers make informed decisions about where to go for healthcare. CMS assessed more than 4,500 hospitals nationwide, rating their performance in seven key areas: mortality, readmission, safety of care, patient experience, effectiveness of care, timeliness of care and efficient use of medical imaging. "This designation is especially gratifying because of what it means for our community: access to quality care that is among the best in the nation," says Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer Gail P. Cunningham, MD. "Neighbors throughout the Baltimore region can continue to choose UM St. Joseph with confidence that we will deliver leading-edge care and an unrivaled patient experience."
This is the third year in a row that University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center has received CMS's highest rating.
