Three University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) hospitals – the University of Maryland Medical Center (Downtown Campus), UM St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson (Baltimore County) and UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie (Anne Arundel County) – rank among the top five hospitals in the Baltimore region and the state, according to U.S. News & World Report's 2024 Best Hospitals, released today.

The U.S. News rankings are designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions or for common elective procedures.

  • UMMC, the System's flagship academic hospital located in Baltimore City, is again ranked as the #2 hospital both in the state of Maryland and Baltimore Metro area.UMMC also ranked #43 nationally for the Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) and #47 for Cancer specialties. In addition, UMMC ranked High Performing in 15 Common Procedures.
