Mark Shaver is the Senior Vice President of Strategy, Physician Services and Business Development for UM Upper Chesapeake Health. In this role he leads the regional efforts related to strategy, population health and physician service lines with a particular focus on behavioral health, oncology, orthopedics, and community based chronic care.
Prior to joining UMMS, Mr. Shaver was the SVP of Business Strategy & Health Systems Initiatives for Welltower Inc. (NYSE: WELL) a health care real estate and operating company. There Mr. Shaver drove the convergence of value-based programs focused on aging with health systems, payors and technology integrators.
Prior to joining Welltower, Mr. Shaver spent 18 years at Johns Hopkins Medicine (JHM), an $8.5 billion integrated global health enterprise and one of the leading health care systems, most recently serving as their Vice President of Business Development and Strategic Alliances. He led this work in partnership with key business and physician leaders across Hopkins focused on managed care/population health programs, regional and national patient referrals and the post-acute partnerships.
Mr. Shaver is active in the community through faith based and youth sports volunteering. He serves on advisory boards for Pager Inc., ROSE Health, Safely You, and MATTER. He is an adjunct faculty member of the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health and holds an M.B.A. from the University of Maryland's R.H. Smith School of Business.
