Chemotherapy
How Chemotherapy Works
There are many different chemotherapy regimens available.
Sometimes chemotherapy medication is a capsule or pill you can take at home; often it involves visits to an infusion center over many weeks (a “cycle”) when medication is administered through an IV. You might get a catheter, port or pump that makes receiving chemotherapy more convenient and efficient.
You will get prescribed a unique medication combination based on what your care team thinks is most effective. Your care team will make a recommendation based on your cancer type, progression and your overall health. You may get chemotherapy alone or it may be in addition to surgery or radiation therapy.
