HBO Therapy

Opening Spring 2025

Hyperbaric medicine is an effective way of treating a number of conditions such as wounds that aren’t healing and injury to tissue due to radiation therapy.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is administered in a pressurized chamber, which allows patients to inhale a higher concentration of oxygen that can then circulate through their bodies.

When used in wound care, this therapy helps the healing process by sending oxygen-rich plasma – the liquid part of our blood – to areas where the oxygen has been depleted. HBOT is also frequently used as a combined care program that may include antibiotics and surgery.

Our outpatient location Center for Hyperbaric Medicine - Bel Air treats patients with referrals from wound, vascular and podiatry centers, oral surgeons, urologists, plastic surgeons and primary care physicians.

Conditions HBOT Can Treat

Hyperbaric medicine can be used to treat a variety of conditions, including:

  • Complex, hard to heal wounds
  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Chronic or worsening bone infection
  • Radiation necrosis – bone and soft tissue injuries caused by radiation treatment for cancer
  • Skin grafts (when healthy skin is transplanted to another area of the body to aid in healing)
