UMMC Awarded Advanced Certification for Comprehensive Stroke Center
Once again, UMMC achieved The Joint Commission's Advanced Certification as a Comprehensive Stroke Center (CSC). The two-year designation is awarded to just 123 elite stroke centers in the nation.

UMMC Earns Fourth Consecutive Magnet Designation
The American Nurses Credentialing Center re-designated UMMC as a Magnet hospital for the fourth consecutive time. UMMC is one of only nine health care organizations in the state to receive this distinguished award for nursing. Fewer than 10% of hospitals nationwide have achieved this designation. And UMMC is among just 2% of hospitals nationwide to have earned it at least four times. Magnet status recognizes hospitals that sustain nursing excellence, support evidence-based practice and demonstrate outstanding patient outcomes. UMMC received Magnet designation for the first time in 2009.
