Green Commuting - Sustainability Initiatives
Ideally located in the heart of Baltimore City, UMMC is accessible by many public transportation options. In addition to encouraging travel by public transportation, UMMC also encourages a "greener" commute through carpooling, car share, and bicycling.
Public Transportation
Medical Center employees can receive a discount on monthly Maryland Transit Authority (MTA) passes. MTA offers 17 bus lines, the MARC train, Metro subway, and Light Rail, all within a few blocks of the Medical Center.
Bike Commuting
Bicycle commuters to the Medical Center enjoy convenient and safe bicycle parking, along with access to showers. UMMC is proud to be a site host of the city's National Bike to Work event held annually in May.
Green Parking
Those employees who drive Fuel Efficient Vehicles or Electric Vehicles can enjoy any one of our 34 designated premium parking spots. Use of our electric vehicle charging station is free to all employees.
Car Pooling
Staff at UMMC have access to Zimride, a free carpool matching program. By using this service, which is shared by University of Maryland Baltimore campus, staff are able to save money, reduce traffic congestion and decrease greenhouse gas emissions.
