Christine 'Tina' Babenko, Ed.D., MJ, MSN, CHC, CCEP, CHPC is the Vice President of Compliance and Privacy at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC). In this role, Tina promotes a culture of compliance, advising on issues concerning compliance and ethics matters while working closely with UMMC's senior leadership, the UMMC Board Chair and Board Governance Committee. She also works in tandem with our System compliance executive leadership and colleagues to support the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) Compliance and Ethics Program.

Most recently serving as Corporate Compliance Officer for Christiana Care Health System and its Accountable Care Organization in Delaware, Tina brings a wealth of experience to her new position. With more than 25 years in health care, including over 12 years in the regulatory compliance environment, her background includes a heavy emphasis on creating strategic alliances to effectively align with and support key business initiatives while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and other regulatory agencies' laws, rules and requirements.

Tina earned her Doctoral Degree in Organizational Leadership, Learning and Innovation from Wilmington University; a Master of Jurisprudence in Health Law from Widener University Delaware Law School; and a Master of Science in Nursing Executive Leadership. She has also earned several compliance designations, including Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC); Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP); and Certified Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC).
