Jill RachBeisel

President of Medical Staff


Jill RachBeisel, MD, leads psychiatric services at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC), guiding clinical programs, faculty development and System-wide initiatives that enhance mental health care. She also serves as president of the medical staff at UMMC Downtown Campus and chairs the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

With a career spanning more than three decades, Dr. RachBeisel has been instrumental in advancing evidence-based psychiatric care. She has expanded clinical programs and implementing a person-centered, trauma-informed approach to treatment. Under her leadership, the department has strengthened its focus on addressing serious mental illness and substance use disorders by increasing access to innovative treatments. Her impactful initiatives include the launch of the Advanced Depression Treatment Program and the expansion of child and adolescent services in West Baltimore.

Dr. RachBeisel previously held roles as medical director, division director and vice chair of clinical affairs, where she oversaw performance improvement and program development.

She earned her medical degree from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine and completed her residency at UMMC.
