Jim McMahon, a seasoned marketing and communications professional, has cultivated his expertise within the health care and hospitality sectors. With a career spanning more than two decades, Jim is adept at building connections between customer-centric organizations, their internal associates and discerning consumers.
Jim's experience includes an array of accomplishments — from developing strategic ad campaigns to connecting to consumers through content marketing. He finds great joy in steering organizations toward success through thoughtful, research-driven strategies that resonate with audiences and internal stakeholders. In his role at UMMC, Jim's focus is setting the strategic direction for marketing and communications for the Medical Center while aligning with the University of Maryland Medical System, University of Maryland School of Medicine, and University of Maryland Faculty Physicians.
Originating from Miami, Florida, Jim's academic journey led him to a bachelor's degree in advertising communications from the Florida International University. His relentless pursuit of knowledge then saw him acquire a master's degree in business administration from Colorado State University. Presently, he resides in the nation's capital, Washington, DC. alongside his wife, Beth, and their son, August, as well as their rescued canine companion, Scrappy.
In the rare moments of respite, Jim channels his passion and commitment into coaching youth sports—a testament to his dedication to nurturing the next generation of leaders. Additionally, he enjoys rejuvenating beach vacations with his family.
