Pulmonary Embolism

A pulmonary embolism occurs when a blood clot travels through your veins into the pulmonary artery, effectively blocking the flow of blood from the right side of the heart to the lungs.

A pulmonary embolism can be a life-threatening illness if not attended to immediately. At the University of Maryland Medical Center, our team is trained and prepared to treat this complicated disease process.
