R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center is proud to partner with the Trauma Survivors Network to help bring our trauma patients into recovery.

The R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center is committed to providing programs and resources to help survivors and their families with trauma recovery.

We work with the Trauma Survivors Network (TSN) to offer a network of support consisting of survivors from different generations, cultures and walks of life.

Our recovery programs involve several services, including:

  • Support Groups: offered bimonthly (virtual and in-person) for survivors and their families to come together for support, encouragement and companionship
  • Peer Visitation Program: provides opportunities for patients actively undergoing treatment at Shock Trauma to connect one-on-one with trauma survivors
  • Other opportunities for connection and support, such as social outings, speaking engagements and community outreach events

For survivors interested in joining our email list and receiving more information regarding all TSN programs and opportunities, please complete our Trauma Survivors Network Registration/Intake Form.

Support Programs

Our Trauma Survivors Network support groups are open to all trauma patients and survivors, as well as their families, as a way to connect and support one another following a serious injury. These support groups revolve around sharing your experiences, thoughts, doubts and hopes with others facing similarly difficult challenges.

Support Groups

To sign up, fill out our Trauma Survivors Network Registration/Intake Form and we will send you everything you need to know. You may sign up to attend both meetings, only the in-person meeting or only the virtual meeting.

In-person Meetings:

Virtual Meetings:

  • Monday that follows the first Thursday of the month at 2 pm
  • Meetings are held via Webex

A list of all other support groups available to patients (amputee, spinal cord injury, stroke, traumatic brain injury, etc.) is available on the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center page on the national TSN website.

Peer Visitation Program

The Trauma Survivors Network Peer Visitation Program connects patients actively undergoing treatment at R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma to a trauma survivor who can help provide support, resources, mentorship and companionship directly at the bedside.

Together they can talk through concerns about rehabilitation, finances, support systems, treatment, loss of function and restoring individual agency.

If you are a patient, family or staff member and would like to request a bedside visit from a peer survivor of trauma, please fill out our TSN Peer Visitation Request Form.

If you are a trauma survivor interested in becoming a Peer Visitor, please complete our Peer Visitor Registration/Intake Form to begin the registration process.
