Thoracic Intermediate Care Unit
The University of Maryland Thoracic Intermediate Care Unit (TIMC) is the region's first and only fully integrated unit dedicated solely to the care of general thoracic surgical patients.
Who will stay in the TIMC?
The TIMC is for patients who have undergone surgery for lung cancer, esophageal cancer, mesothelioma, airway disorders, thymic malignancies, mediastinal tumors, chest wall resections, benign disorders of the chest and other thoracic procedures.

The TIMC also holds weekly conferences to review every in-house patient and discuss the patients scheduled for surgery the following week.
