Delivery Suite

University of Maryland Medical Center opened the new 30,000 square foot Labor and Delivery Suite in October 2018

The labor and delivery unit features:

• Large, private labor rooms to accommodate both mother and baby
• Labor rooms with bathtubs for pain management
• Beds for partners to stay the night with mom and baby
• Evaluation of newborn right at the mother's bedside so the family is part of the experience

High-Risk Births

While most pregnancies and births go smoothly, sometimes medical difficulties occur. The Maternal Fetal Medicine Division at UMMC is internationally recognized for its expertise in caring for both the fetus and mother. The labor and delivery suite is equipped to care for extremely high-risk OB patients while keeping mother and baby together:

• In-room neonatal care
• State-of-the-art high-risk birthing beds
• Direct access to level IV NICU
• Access to 120+ specialists at University of Maryland Children's Hospital
