Innovation at UMMC

Innovation at UMMC includes new or improved technologies, practices, models, or advancements that sustainably improve health outcomes, quality, safety, and experiences for patients, teams, families and communities on the UMMC Downtown and Midtown campuses.

The UMMC Innovation Challenge is a competition hosted by Dr. Bert O'Malley and UMMC's senior leadership. The Challenge offers teams from all disciplines the opportunity to compete for innovation grants. When selected, teams or an individual will have access to awarded funding to test or implement their innovation, across the Downtown and/or Midtown Campus. The timeline for projects is 12-18 months total.

Accelerating our UMMC values of excellence and innovation, we welcome interprofessional teams or individuals to submit ideas for improved solutions and novel practices that advance health outcomes for our patients, or families, or team members located on the Downtown and/or Midtown campuses.

Innovation Challenge Mission

The mission of the Innovation Challenge is to change health care using smart, innovative solutions to current problems using UMMC as the testing ground to shape the future of medicine. This may include ideas related to patient experience, digital health, direct patient care, supportive and ancillary services, health care quality, or patient safety.
