Sims & Escape Rooms to Improve Inter-Professional Collaboration Between Residents & Nurses
$15,000 Healthy Work Environment RFP Award
Project Overview
In order to provide the safest, highest quality care to our patients, disciplines need not only to work together and communicate but also understand the importance of inter-disciplinary collaboration. This innovation aims to build a program to increase inter-professional collaboration between residents and new nurses using simulation and group-based activities. The activities, such as escape or break-out rooms, will rely on identifying and calling on each clinician's specific skills and will be used over and over again with subsequent resident and nursing groups. The team plans to purchase simulation programs geared specifically for inter-professional collaboration to use in the new simulation lab. These activities will be included in an overall structure that includes shadowing, social mixers and open discussion sessions at regular intervals for problem solving and improvement.
