Green Team

UMMC has a multidisciplinary Green Team that keeps our Medical Center an award winning, more environmentally sustainable place to provide patient care. Contact: Justin Graves, Sustainability Coordinator.

C2X: Commitment to Excellence

UMMC staff live by our Commitment to Excellence standards, and we look forward to UMMC's C2X forums (town meetings) that are held with senior leadership. Be sure to attend the C2X Forums, sign up to be a liaison for your unit, or join one of the many C2X Teams, including Patient Experience, Celebrations, Employee Engagement, Healing Arts, and Communications. Nursing & Patient Care Services Governance Councils

UMMC's Nursing & PCS Governance Councils coordinate the decision making process related to clinical practice, staff and patient education and patient care. The 10 councils and 15 subgroups include representation from many departments including Pharmacy and Information Technology, in addition to every nursing unit. Manager approval required prior to involvement with these councils. Contact: Tia Milburn, Project Specialist.

Unit Level Councils

Every division and unit has unique needs and committees. Ask your manager about getting involved at the unit level.

UMMC Events

UMMC plans a number of events, from holiday parties to award celebrations. Be sure to ask your manager about these activities through out the year.

Nurses Week

Nurses Week coincides with the birthday of Florence Nightingale and is celebrated annually at UMMC. You can be involved planning and attending these events that honor nurses.

Ongoing Education

Keep your eyes peeled for the many conferences and workshops that are offered year round in your unit or department.

University of Maryland HS/HSL Library

You have access to the Health Sciences and Human Services Library located across from the hospital in the Southern Management Campus Center. Visit the information desk to get your code for computer access to the numerous online databases, as well as journals and text books.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

The EAP offers free, confidential counseling and referral service for employees and their family members for stress, depression, anxiety, grief, marital and family assessment and career planning. Call 667-214-1555 for an appointment. Counselor available by page 24/7.

Healing Arts Exhibit for Employees & Their Families

The C2X Team Healing Arts Team has partnered with the National Arts Program® to host an employee art exhibition and awards reception at UMMC each fall. All UMMC employees, physicians, and their immediate family members are invited to exhibit their artwork and compete for cash prizes.

Pastoral Care Services

All patients, staff and/or family members who need support are encouraged to use Pastoral Care Services available at the Medical Center. The Interfaith Chapel, located on the ground floor in the Weinberg Atrium, hosts regular services while offering a safe place for spiritual care. To reach a chaplain at any time, use the hospital pager system #4659 (HOLY) or call 410-328-6014 from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
