Volunteer Opportunities

UMMC encourages employees to participate in local volunteer opportunities focused on youth, education, health and economic development.

Opportunities Through UMMC

Community Champion Program

This new and developing program invites hospital employees who are interested in working within the community to join. As a Community Champion, you will notify your unit of upcoming volunteer opportunities and encourage your unit to participate in different activities throughout the year.

We are currently looking representatives from all departments to be Community Champions. Please contact Lucy Miner at lminer@umm.edu or Mariellen Synan at msynan@umm.edu for more information.

United Way Campaign

The annual UMMC United Way Drive encourages Medical Center employees to give back to their communities. Generous donations from our staff, as well as a variety of volunteer projects organized by several departments, result in successful support and turnouts for the United Way of Central Maryland.

Opportunities Outside of the Hospital

Volunteer opportunities outside of the hospital give you and your unit a chance to get involved with Baltimore and the surrounding area.

Volunteer Central

Volunteer Central serves as a resource for those looking to volunteer in Baltimore City. Opportunities include advocacy/human rights, arts and culture, death/dying, drug abuse, environment, family planning, immigration, gay/lesbian/bi/trans, poverty, public assistance and technology.

Volunteer Match

Volunteer Match explores virtual and local opportunities within Baltimore. Specific causes include children/youth, community, education/literacy, health/medicine, homeless/housing and seniors.

Additional local organizations such as Ronald McDonald House, My Sister's Place, The Salvation Army, Healthcare for the Homeless and Back on My Feet also have volunteer opportunities.
