Quality Improvement - ACGME Competencies
Quality or Practice Improvement activities may include, but are not limited to, lectures, seminars, conferences, or a quality improvement project. Residents and fellows may participate in a departmental, team, or personal quality improvement activities.
A manual developed by faculty from Case Western Reserve and George Mason Universities is provided to assist you in guiding your residents in developing a personal Quality Improvement Project.
Here are a number of other resources that may also be useful to you in the development and implementation of program's approach to competency and outcomes assessment and improvement. The information contained in these approaches reflects those undertaken by your UMMC's colleagues, as well as others in your profession to develop and implement the Practice Based Learning and Improvement competency within their program or institution in the following areas:
- The Society of Hospital Medicine has a variety of Quality Improvement Tools that programs can utilize.
- The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality is a clearinghouse for resources and tools in Quality Improvement
- The Institute for Healthcare Improvement has a website with tools and resources for quality improvement
