The core clinical facilities for the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CAP) Fellowship include the University of Maryland Medical Center, the Sheppard Pratt Health System, and the State Mental Hygiene Administration System (Spring Grove Hospital Center).

Throughout your two years, you'll rotate through the different facilities while getting a broad exposure to different specialties during our training program.

University of Maryland Medical Center

The University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) is situated in the heart of Baltimore within the revitalized neighborhood known as University Center.

This 50-block area includes UMMC and the University of Maryland Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Law, Pharmacy and Social Work. The campus also houses the Baltimore Veterans Affairs Medical Center, which is attached to UMMC via a pedestrian bridge.

At the UMMC campus, the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry division includes:

  • A child and adolescent in-patient psychiatry unit
  • Consultation/liaison service
  • Outpatient child and adolescent clinic
  • Trauma specialty clinic
  • Outpatient center for early childhood mental health
  • School mental health program based in Baltimore City public schools

Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Hospital

The Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Hospital is a free-standing private, non-profit psychiatric facility located in Towson, approximately 15 miles from UMMC.

On the Sheppard Pratt campus, training sites include an adolescent inpatient unit, inpatient neurodevelopmental unit, day hospital and residential treatment center.

Other sites include specialized schools and the Center for Eating Disorders.

State Mental Hygiene Administration System (Spring Grove Hospital Center)

State Mental Hygiene Administration System (Spring Grove Hospital Center) provides a broad spectrum of inpatient psychiatric services to adults and adolescents, as well as comprehensive residential psychiatric services to adults.

The center is owned and operated by the State of Maryland, and is under the governance of the Mental Hygiene Administration of the Department of Health.
