Medical Oncology and Hematology first year fellows in 2023

Applications for the Hematology/Medical Oncology Fellowship Program are only accepted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). A minimum of three years of training and board eligibility in internal medicine are prerequisites.

The following materials must be submitted through ERAS no later than August 1.

  1. ERAS application
  2. Curriculum vitae (ERAS format is acceptable)
  3. Personal statement
  4. Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE) or "Dean's letter"
  5. Three letters of recommendation, including one from Residency Program Director
  6. Medical school transcript
  7. USMLE Step 1 scores
  8. USMLE Step 2 scores
  9. Photograph
  10. Your email address

If you are an International Medical Graduate, please note the following requirements. Further information about visas is available.

  • Valid ECFMG certificate
  • The University of Maryland Medical Center adheres to the standards and guidelines for the employment of non-immigrants as established by federal immigration laws and the U.S. Department of Labor. Non-immigrant alien residents or fellows will be sponsored under the J-1 visa program unless they have graduated from an accredited U.S. medical school.
  • We do not sponsor H-1 visas.
  • Board eligibility in Internal Medicine prior to starting the Fellowship in Hematology/Oncology, which usually requires current enrollment or completion of a three-year residency in an approved training program in Internal Medicine in the United States prior to fellowship.

Upon review of these materials, select candidates will be invited to interview at the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center to develop a greater understanding of our program.
