Addiction Medicine Fellowship

Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
A two-year ACGME-accredited fellowship, jointly sponsored with Sheppard Pratt Hospital and the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Entry into the fellowship program is possible after completion of the PG-3 year. The fellowship teaches the diagnostic, consultative, and therapeutic skills essential to practicing child and adolescent psychiatry. There is an emphasis on child and adolescent development, early intervention and prevention, and community child psychiatry.

Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry
The University of Maryland Consult Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship is an ACGME accredited one-year fellowship that provides the experience and training necessary to provide consultation, liaison and treatment for patients with complex medical conditions as they occur in a wide variety of medical treatment settings. Outpatient consultation experiences emphasize integrated care models and include training in primary care medical clinics, HIV clinics, a vocational rehabilitation center, as well as other specialty medical and surgical clinics.
Inpatient consultation focuses on both consultation and liaison aspects of psychiatric treatment of patients with complex medical and psychiatric conditions as they occur in a diverse tertiary treatment setting. Sites include the R. Adams Cowley Shock-Trauma Center, The Greenebaum Cancer Center, the Baltimore VA Hospital and the University of Maryland Medical Center with a multitude of specialty services including nephrology, organ transplantation, HIV, neurology/neurosurgery, cardiology and OB/GYN.
The educational program consists of seminars, case conferences, and individual supervision provided for all clinical activities.
Additionally, the fellow will have the opportunity to participate in the ambulatory psychiatry training program for internal medicine residents, as well as teach medical students and psychiatry residents. Research experience in conducting a systematic review and meta-analysis will be provided as part of the research curriculum. Completion of an approved psychiatric residency program is required.

Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship
A one-year ACGME-accredited fellowship. Rotations include court consultation, Clifton T. Perkins Hospital, University of Maryland School of Law, various correctional facilities, and private practice settings.

Research (Maryland Psychiatric Research Center)
The Maryland Psychiatric Research Center (MPRC), an international leader in schizophrenia research, is accepting applications for a two-year training fellowship. The MPRC is part of the Department of Psychiatry, University of Maryland Baltimore School of Medicine. The MPRC has a strong record of helping fellows develop successful careers in diverse research areas within the context of schizophrenia. Current research areas include psychopharmacology, behavioral neuroscience, developmental neuroscience, neurochemistry, neuroendocrinology, neuroimaging, post-mortem, psychophysiology, cognitive neuroscience, drug treatment trials, ethics, and genetics.
The goal of the fellowship is to train psychiatrists, psychologists, pharmacists, and basic scientists to become leading researchers in the area of schizophrenia. The program combines individual mentored basic and clinical research with educational experiences. General educational activities include MPRC’s internal course on schizophrenia, journal clubs, meetings with invited outside senior researchers, grant writing workshops, and individualized career development.
Applicants must hold a M.D. with completed residency training in psychiatry, a PhD in psychology, neuroscience, basic science relevant to the fellowship goal, or a Pharm D. Only U.S. citizens, non-citizen nationals, or permanent residents can apply.
