University of Maryland Addiction Medicine Fellowship
The University of Maryland Addiction Medicine Fellowship program’s mission is to train compassionate, competent and dedicated addiction experts who will form the future leadership of our profession.
Our longstanding history at UMMC—along with our diverse faculty and interdisciplinary learning opportunities—are integral elements to our ACGME-accredited fellowship. We invite you to explore our site to learn more about our program.
Program Goals
- To provide broad and varied training in addiction medicine, shaping the careers of skilled, compassionate and ethical clinicians who will practice across diverse treatment settings and patient populations.
- To instill a spirit of scholarship that will motivate our fellows to contribute to general and scientific knowledge about addiction and to implement evidence-based treatment in their own practices.
- To foster cultural humility and inspire advocacy for both individual patients and necessary systemic changes.
- To develop future leaders in roles across the field of addiction medicine.
- To advocate for the integration of addiction evaluation and treatment throughout all of medicine, rooted in a recognition of the fundamental humanity of our patients and a desire to remedy medicine’s historical neglect of patients living with addiction.
