Clinical Sites and Hours - Categorical Pediatrics Residency
Sites
The University of Maryland Hospital serves as the primary site for clinical training. Residents also spend 3 of the 36 months at Mercy Medical Center. Full-time faculty from our department based at Mercy supervise and teach house staff during the training experience there.
Continuity Clinic Sites
The residency program offers 2 continuity clinic sites. Pediatrics at Midtown is an academic general pediatric practice located in West Baltimore at the University of Maryland Midtown. The second clinic site is located at Mercy Medical center.
Work Duty Hours
Our program is compliant with the new ACGME duty hours policy.
The inpatient wards, ICU rotations, and community hospital experiences all utilize a night float system in place of a traditional call schedule. While in the emergency department at the University of Maryland, residents work 12-hour shifts.
Call Free Electives
There are a minimum of four rotations during your three years of training where no call is required, including two call-free electives where residents have the chance to do a rotation in a hospital or clinic in another location--even internationally.
